1st nursery prac day

Ben, Callum and Ken had a good day on Thursday 19th Feb, sowing heaps of different herb and vegetable seeds for the hydroponics.

The chef students will harvest these to use in the restaurant.

We sowed chives, oregano, Italian parsley, triple curled parsley, dill, watercress, perennial rocket, annual rocket, spring onions, lettuces, pak choi, plantago star of the earth (what on earth is this stuff? have never tasted it) etc etc.

We sowed the seeds in grow pots, in a mix of pumice and vermiculite. We may have to thin them when they come up if there are too many seedlings in a pot. We put the trays in Greenhouse 1 under the mist to germinate.

This information would be great for your diary. Remember to add in what we did in the afternoon.
